Working as a graphic designer at Westword, I go through hundreds of advertisements every week. It is my job to communicate with the sales representatives and create an ad that the client, and readers, will enjoy. Some clients are more stubborn than others: some insist on using X fonts, with Y pictures, and Z body copy. Throwing together an ad like this with the provided material may seem simple at first, but I find joy in challenging myself to start with the client’s requests and then working with those guidelines to create a visually pleasing ad, no matter how hard the task may be.
I was responsible for creating a lot of web ads as well. Many of mine can be found live at www.westword.com.
Below are a sample of the print ads I have created.
